Trump Calls Out NFL Players for Kneeling during Anthem which Leads to Players’ Big Response

By Reilly Geraghty Sunday is traditionally a day of football for Americans. This past Sunday, the professional football players of the NFL did more than play the game. Over 200 players chose to sit or kneel during the national anthem as a sign of protest. NFL player Colin Kaepernick started kneeling during the playing of the national anthem in the 2016 season as a symbol of silent protest for racial injustice and police brutality. PRP High School senior named Penn Station Athlete of the Month

On Thursday, December 16, an assembly was held at Pleasure Ridge Park High School in honor of Senior Don Thompson-Araya who won the Penn Station Athlete of the Month for January. Araya, a player on the Varsity Boys’ Soccer Team, was nominated by a member of the PRP community. This nomination makes him eligible to win a $5,000 scholarship, $1,500 School Athletics scholarship and a $150 School Academics scholarship. Thompson-Araya also gets some airtime on WLKY 32, an Athlete of The Month trophy, an Athlete of The Month t-shirt and an in-store display featuring his student profile.
