So many new opportunities have been offered to students this school year! PRP has now commenced the first ever HOSA chapter. Health Students of America (HOSA) is an organization that involves students interested in the medical pathway. The group will host many blood drives, help the community by providing first-aid kits, and teach smaller children importance of washing hands, etc. Since this chapter is brand new, HOSA needs some help from other students at PRP!
“We [students of HOSA] have a lot of ideas to fund raise for the group. We are thinking of unique things others would want to see,” said Sophomore Jayden Wickliffe.
Students of the group came up with an idea to pie teachers in the face. During Homecoming week, HOSA set up in front of the lunchroom to spread the word of their fundraiser. There were many teachers that volunteered to get a pie smashed in their face. The top three teachers that students donated money for would have to stand in the middle of the gym during the homecoming pep rally, and then have whip cream splattered in their face.
“I think that the pie in the face fundraiser was successful,” said sophomore Kelsey Baker.
The students were able to raise a good amount of money to get a base foundation for the chapter. HOSA students hope to get others within the school involved and most importantly, have fun while doing it. The group has a lot in store for the 2018-2019 school year!
