As Halloween approaches, horror movies begin to roll into theaters. There are many cult favorite horror movies, such as Halloween, Friday the 13th, or Scream. Why are new horror movies not cult favorites?
It is believed by many that new horror movies, such as Paranormal Activity, are not as scary as the older movies. There are some new horror movies that have developed a following such as The Conjuring. Are horror movies really scary though?
Studies have shown that people get more scared by stuff jumping out on the TV; movie companies have begun capitalizing on this so much that it does not scare people as much anymore.
Many people believe that the scariest part of old horror movies is that many are based on true stories such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. So, what is wrong with horror movies?
If you ask me I would say that horror movies have become a dying industry of new companies trying to remake classical horror movies like the new Chucky movie coming out this year. I have never been a fan of horror movies, not because they are scary but because there is not a good plot, and the new ones are getting worse and worse. The only horror movie I will be in theaters to see anytime soon is the Halloween remake, which comes out in two weeks.
If you would like to step into a horror movie, this year Nightmare Forest is themed after many of the great classical horror movies.
Nightmare Forest is located at 850 Otter Creek Park Rd, Brandenburg, Ky 40108. General admission is $20 per person.
