By taking a frozen dive into the Ohio River, Plungers can help their local Special Olympic Athletes. The Louisville Polar Plunge will take place on Saturday, March 5th at the Brown-Forman Amphitheatre at Waterfront Park.
In order for PRP students and staff to participate, ages 18 and under must raise $50 and participants over 18 must raise $75. The money raised goes towards funding state competitions for Special Olympic athletes in Kentucky.
Each year PRP forms a team to represent the school in the Plunge. In past years, the PRP team has raised upwards of $1000. A portion of the proceeds comes directly back to the school.
“The money allows our special needs classes to pay for trips like the annual ski trip,” said PRP Polar Plunge Coordinator, Ms. Cate.
Anyone interested in supporting Special Olympics Kentucky by taking the Plunge or by donating can see Ms. Cate in G2 and become a part of the PRP team. Interested parties can also sign up online on the Louisville Polar Plunge’s main website, kentuckyplunge.com.
