On Thursday, December 16, an assembly was held at Pleasure Ridge Park High School in honor of Senior Don Thompson-Araya who won the Penn Station Athlete of the Month for January.

Araya, a player on the Varsity Boys’ Soccer Team, was nominated by a member of the PRP community. This nomination makes him eligible to win a $5,000 scholarship, $1,500 School Athletics scholarship and a $150 School Academics scholarship. Thompson-Araya also gets some airtime on WLKY 32, an Athlete of The Month trophy, an Athlete of The Month t-shirt and an in-store display featuring his student profile.

According to the Penn Station website, an Athlete of the Month has demonstrated “excellence in athletics and good citizenship.”
